Portuguese Water Dog
The Portuguese bred dog was made for accompanying fisherman on their boats to help retrieve nets, dive for fish, carry messages through water and guard the boat at foreign ports. The medium-sized, yet robust breed stands at 17 to 23 inches tall and weighs an average of 50 pounds. The athletic, active Portuguese Water Dog requires daily vigorous exercise.
