Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
First developed in a remote and isolated area of Switzerland, this breed was originally used for work and thought to be extinct until the 1900s, when they were rediscovered. The large, confident Greater Swiss Mountain Dog stands at 23 to 29 inches tall and weighs between 130 and 135 pounds. The thick, dark coat of the breed makes it easy for them to overheat, but moderate exercise from a family member is always appreciated.
