Great Dane
Historians claim that Great Danes can be dated back to 3000 B.C. where drawings on ancient Egyptian walls resembled the breed. Later Germans bred this dog for hunting wild boar, a very ferocious animal. As time went on, Great Danes became great companions and estate guards. Known as the king of dogs, this particular breed stands at 28 to 30 inches and weighs between 100 and 200 pounds. This gentle giant is good with any family, but one draw back is that it is not a long living breed.
