The breed occurred from cross breeding of French scent hounds (Francais) and English foxhounds (Anglo), which also gave the breed its name. The Grand Anglo-Francais Blanc et Noir was used for hunting as a pack scent hound used in hunting large or grand game but also for smaller game as well. The large pack-hunting breed weighs 66 to 79 pounds and stands 24 to 28 inches tall. Grand Anglo-Francais Blanc et Noir are primarily used for hunting so are not recommended for strictly companionship.
