Formosan Mountain Dog
The breed is indigenous to Taiwan where they began as a wild breed but became more tame during settlements of the lands where they were now used for guarding, hunting, rescues, and essentially companions. However, today the pure-blood Formosan Mountain Dog is now near extinction because of the low conservation of the breed in Taiwan. The extremely loyal breed stands at 17 to 20 inches tall and weighs 26 to 40 pounds. The dog does well in pack hunting but they are not keen with strangers, usually they will only listen and allow their owner to pet them.
