East European Shepherd
The breed originated during the 1930s by the crossing of German Shepherds with Russian bred dogs to produce an animal more suitable for the army. The muscular, guard dog weighs an average of 90 pounds and stands 24 to 30 inches tall, with taller heights being more desirable for most. The East European Shepherd does okay in apartments but prefers to stay outside, even in cold climates.
