Cimarron Uruguayo
The breed descended from the Europeans that brought the dog to Uruguay and released it into the wild. This enabled the Cimarron Uruguayo to adapt to a new living condition, but later becoming destructive to cattle and human lives. The severe destruction the breed created, caused the government to allow hunting of the dog, but later in the Cerro Largo highlands, ranchers captured and tamed the breed as guardians. The large, muscular breed weighs between 80 and 100 pounds and stands at 21 to 24 inches tall. The all sports dog can be kept as a companion if socialized well from the beginning.
