Chinese Imperial Dog
The breed originated in China among Buddhist monks in the likeliness of lions- that they believed embodied the essence of Buddha. The Chinese Imperial Dog was regarded with great care and value that if the breed was found outside of the Imperial City the sentence for the human was death. The compact, pleasing breed weighs an average of 4 to 7 pounds and stands around 8 inches tall. The Chinese Imperial Dog is perfect for apartment life because minimal exercise is needed and the breed loves to curl up on their owner's laps.
