Boykin Spaniel

The breed evolved in South Carolina just after the turn of the 20th century from one stray dog that was cross bred with many other breeds to produce an avid bird hunter. The trademark yellow/amber eyes stare expectantly at you as if asking what do you want me to do next? The small, ethusiastic breed weighs 25 to 40 pounds and stands at 15 to 18 inches at the shoulder. The Boykin Spaniel needs adequate exercise and a job daily to burn off their excess amount of energy.
