Berner Laufhund

The breed originated in Switzerland as far back as the 1000s where the Berner Laufhund was initially used to hunt large game. Due to the breeds exceptional hunting abilities, it is referred to as the best hunting dog in the world. The middle-sized scent hound weighs 34 to 44 pounds and stands 15 to 23 inches tall. The Berner Laufhund's strong appearance and loud bark make them a great choice as a guard dog but their easy going nature and friendliness makes the breed a suitable companion as well.
